Moving help can mean two people and a van for a couple of hours. A household move is the entire home: everything you own has to come down the stairs, into the van and back up again at a new address. That means sofas turned round tight corners, a washing machine disconnected properly, a wardrobe taken apart because it will not clear the doorway, and a storage room nobody has opened in ten years. We account for all of it in the quote, so there is no awkward conversation on the day about the van being too small.
How the day works
It starts with a walk-through. We go through the home with you, room by room, usually in person here in Sundsvall or over photos if time is short. You then get a fixed quote with a date, a time and a clear list of what is included. The day before, we call to confirm parking, lifts and keys. On the day we finish whatever packing is left, wrap the furniture, load and drive. At the other end everything is carried into the right room, beds and tables are put back together, and the blankets and crates we brought go back with us.
Heavy, fragile and precious
A piano, a safe, a fish tank, a stone worktop, your grandmother's chest of drawers — these are the things people actually worry about. A piano should never be carried by its legs, and a mirror should never travel loose in a van. We work with lifting straps, a piano trolley, blankets and ratchet straps, and anything fragile is packed separately and marked on the box. Appliances are disconnected and reconnected, with new seals where needed. If something does go wrong, the load is insured and we hold business cover with Länsförsäkringar.
Stairwells, parking and winter
Sundsvall has conditions of its own. The stone town flats are handsome, but the stairwells are narrow and a fourth floor without a lift is the rule rather than the exception. Around Södermalm and Skönsberg the van often has to park some way off, and out in Bredsand or on Alnö the last stretch can be gravel and a slope. Winter adds ice, snow banks and short daylight. We plan for it: the right size of van, floor protection in the stairwell, grip on the ramp, and a schedule that holds even when it snows. You do not pay extra because it happened to be January.
Price and the RUT deduction
We quote a fixed price rather than an hourly rate that grows as the day goes on. The price follows the size of the home, the floor and lift access at both ends, the distance, and how much you pack yourself. As a private customer you get the RUT deduction on the labour: up to 50% of the labour cost, capped at SEK 75,000 per person per year. We take it off the invoice directly, so there is nothing for you to apply for. As a rough guide, a smaller flat in Sundsvall tends to land around SEK 2,000–5,000 and a house between SEK 6,000 and 15,000 before the deduction. Those are estimates; your quote is fixed.
