International moving from Sundsvall, door to door
Planning a move abroad? An international move is packing, customs and transport rolled into one, and we take the whole chain from your door in Sundsvall to your new address in Europe or on the other side of the world. Fixed price, a timeline, one contact throughout.
What you actually get
Everything below is included in the fixed price. Anything extra is agreed with you before we do it — never after.
Free quoteHow an international move works
It starts with a survey, either at your home or over video, where we go room by room and work out the volume. From that you get a written quote with a fixed price, the shipping method and a delivery window. We then book the space, prepare the customs paperwork and confirm who will receive the goods at the other end. On packing day we come to you, pack, label and load. You hear from us at departure and again as the delivery window approaches. At the other end we carry everything in, reassemble it and take the packaging away.
Customs and paperwork
Within the EU your belongings travel freely, though you still need a clear inventory and may be asked about wine, weapons, vehicles or pets. Outside the EU a formal declaration of personal effects is required. As a rule you pay no duty or VAT on things you have owned and used for at least six months and that follow you when you change country of residence. We complete the forms with you and file them on time. If you will be living abroad for a year or more, the move must also be reported to the Swedish Tax Agency; we remind you, but that report is yours to make.
Packing built for the distance
A box that survives a move across Sundsvall will not necessarily survive four weeks at sea. Goods travelling far are packed in double-walled cartons, furniture blankets and stretch film, and fragile items such as mirrors, art and stone worktops are crated in purpose-built timber cases. Screws and fittings travel in labelled bags taped to the furniture they belong to. Everything is numbered and entered on an inventory that you, the customs authorities and the insurer can all read. For sea freight we also plan for damp and swings in temperature, so sensitive wood and electronics get extra protection before the container is closed.
Container, groupage or dedicated van
Most moves to Europe travel by road. A full household gets its own vehicle running straight through; a smaller load goes as groupage, sharing space with other consignments, which costs less but adds a few days. Reckon on roughly three days to Germany and a little over a week to Spain. Beyond Europe your goods travel in a container. A twenty-foot container holds about the contents of a three-room flat, and anyone shipping less shares a container and pays by the cubic metre. Sea freight takes time: five to seven weeks door to door to the United States is typical, and Australia longer.
Price, RUT and insurance
An international move cannot be priced by a calculator, so you always get a fixed-price quote once we have seen what is going. Volume, distance, shipping method and how much packing you want decide the figure. Private customers get the Swedish RUT deduction on the labour carried out in the home here in Sweden, meaning packing, dismantling, carrying and the end-of-tenancy clean, worth up to 50 per cent of that labour cost. Transport across the border, customs handling and storage fall outside RUT, so we itemise the quote to show exactly what qualifies. Goods are insured separately at declared value; we are insured with Länsförsäkringar.
Out of Sundsvall, into the world
We load at your door, whether that is a third-floor flat in the old stone town with a narrow stairwell and no lift, or a house in Bergsåker with room for the lorry on the drive. In the centre we apply for parking permits in advance where they are needed, because an articulated lorry rarely fits where a removal van does; in that case we transfer the load at a terminal instead. In winter we pack indoors and grit the route we carry along. From Sundsvall the goods run south to consolidation or port, and the same applies if you are moving from Timrå, Härnösand, Matfors or Ånge.

International moving
It depends on volume, distance and shipping method. A two-room flat sent to Germany as groupage and a whole house shipped to Canada in a container are a long way apart. That is why we never quote a figure online. We survey the home, in person or over video, and then give you a fixed price in writing.
Two to three weeks is usually enough for a move within Europe. For anything going by sea, give us six to eight weeks so the booking, packing and customs paperwork have room to breathe. Transit itself is a few days across Europe and several weeks by ship. The timeline sits in your quote.
Yes, but only on the work done in your home in Sweden: packing, dismantling, carrying and the end-of-tenancy clean. The cross-border transport, customs handling and storage do not qualify. The deduction is worth up to 50 per cent of that labour cost, and the quote shows clearly which part it covers.
Not within the EU, though you should always have the inventory to hand. For anything leaving the EU a declaration of personal effects is required, and you normally pay no duty or VAT on items you have owned and used for at least six months that move with you. We prepare the documents.
Yes. Plenty of people need storage either before departure or while waiting for the keys at the other end. We keep everything dry and locked, and ship it on when you say the word. Storage does not count as household work, so it carries no RUT deduction; the quote states that plainly.
We are based in Sundsvall and collect across the region: Timrå, Härnösand, Matfors, Njurunda, Alnö, Sundsbruk, Bergsåker, Skönsberg, Bredsand, Ånge and Kramfors. We also handle moves in the other direction, back to the Sundsvall area from abroad. Just tell us where the goods are today.
